March 2011 - Asiacell the largest private Iraqi company and the first and only mobile telecommunications company to provide coverage for all of Iraq has announced on Friday, 18 February, that it received in Beirut two Pikasso d'Or awards in recognition of the company's outstanding outdoor advertising activities.
Asiacell won the Pikasso Gold Award for its Corporate Coverage campaign covering all 18 Iraqi provinces, and the 8x3 Award for its Youth Line campaign. Mr. Harry Atalla, Technical Director of Wunderman - specialized in direct marketing and Asiacell’s former advertising agent - accepted the awards during an official ceremony at the Beirut International Exhibition and Leisure Center, attended by 700 representatives from leading regional advertising agencies and clients.
The Pikasso d’Or jury, comprising renowned European creative advertising professionals, was presided over by Mr. Alain Weill, Expert in Contemporary Art and Advertising Creation from France, and Mr. Andrew Rawlins, Secretary General of Pikasso and CEO of Epica Awards. Other Jury members included Mr. Assaad Doueihy, Group Regional Creative Director of Intermarkets; Mr. Samer Younes, Regional Creative Director of M&C Saatchi; Mr. Alain Hochar, Regional Creative Director of Horizon FCB; Mr. Issa Marto, CEO of Kroma Promoseven/UM7 Jordan; and Mr. Mourad Ait-Aoudia, General Manager of McCann Algiers.
On behalf of Swar Ahmed Marco & PR Manger of Asiacell , Mr. Atalla thanked the Pikasso d’Or jury for their recognition of Asiacell, which he said serves to motivate the company to create bigger, better and stronger campaigns that cater to Iraqi telecom customers and their varying needs. “We are extremely proud to have received these two prestigious awards, which highlight our achievements during 2010.”
In turn, Mr. Antonio Vincenti – Chairman of Pikasso d’Or congratulated Asiacell on their achievement, and lauded the company’s team for playing a major role in making these awards possible, describing Asiacell’s campaign as a shining example of advertising ingenuity.
Pikasso d’Or is an annual prize that celebrates inspired billboard advertising models and rewards the best creative outdoor posters according to internationally recognized parameters.
